PJ Day

The long awaited pajama day at preschool finally arrived. After weeks of discussion and preparation, Nora was finally able to wear her "new pajamas with pink and purple flowers," to school. Of course Ronan also wore his pajamas. He believes that he also goes to school, and I think it's really going to help him with the transition next year.

Ronan and Lucy hanging out at preschool.

Ronan loves Nora's classroom and tries to explore it as much as he can while I am dropping off Nora.

Nora and Ronan were so excited!!! They ran to the window to peek into the classroom to see if Nora's teacher were wearing pajamas.

Snuggle Time

Clare has been loving tummy time lately. She's really lifting up a lot more and not as frustrated as she used to be. She's also on the verge of being able to sit up on her own. She can balance for maybe five seconds before she slowly slouches to the ground. She's always been a strong baby and I know that she'll be sitting up soon!

Sunshine

We have had days upon days of sunshine in Portland this January. I prepare for constant rain during the winter months and take full advantage of any day that has an hour of dry weather! We've been spending hours out front and meeting friends at the park! Jeff had to remind me today that it wasn't spring yet!

The kids love to draw "rainbows" with chalk.

Clare loved being in the walker. I was going to get rid of it because it's not safe for our house because we have steps. But, I saw it sitting in the garage and thought it would be a great item for Clare to have outside.

Ronan has been riding his trike a lot lately. He working on riding it to the park down the street. We decided that when he can do this we will get him a big boy bike. He has already picked out a cars one!

Nora is a dare devil on her bike. I can't believe what a good rider she has become. She rides so fast now and can really maneuver around. She's also very safe and watches for cars.

Clare is getting use to the sunshine!

Face Painting

We took a quick visit to the Children's Museum last week. The kids love this place and so even though it's so hard to take three kids there, we always find a way to make it work. The kids have a few activities that we always make sure to do and face painting is one of them!

Gymnastics

We joined Lisa and her boys, Calvin and Charlie, at the West Side Gymnastics Center. Ronan had a great time playing on all the equipment. We've been looking for a special activity for him to do on Tuesdays while Nora is at school and this is PERFECT!

Ronan basically jumped the entire time we were there! He loved the trampoline and spent a ton of time bouncing away on it. He also loved plummeting into the foam pit. There was also a bounce house!

Ronan has always been pretty coordinated and he really enjoys any kind of physical activity. He played on the balance beams and swung from some bars during gymnastics. The most exciting part of his day was going on the zip cord. He's been talking about it for days since about how much he liked it and how the rule is to hold on tight.
Ronan also had a great time playing with other little boys. Calvin and Charlie are great friends and Ronan loved running around with them. Since gymnastics Ronan has been talking about visiting with Charlie and Calvin more. On Saturday we got together with the boys and I over heard Ronan talking to Charlie, "You're my best friend."

Ronan

Nora found the camera on the counter and took a million pictures of Ronan. He was obviously posing for the pictures and enjoying the mischief as much as she was.

Newport Aquarium

We finally went to the Newport Aquarium! It was the big event of our trip and we had a great time.
Nora loved touching the animals. Clare also dipped her little fingers into the water.

The aquarium is full of glass tunnels so it feels like you're walking through the water. The kids had a great time running around and watching the fish.

The kids loved watching the jellyfish.

The kids are looking up through a tunnel.

The only downfall to the aquarium was that most of the exhibits are outside and the weekend we were there it rained like crazy.

Hotel Pool

We finally took a little weekend trip to the beach! Jeff and I constantly talk about going to the coast, but it has seriously been scary to think about all the work involved.
Thanks to Groupon, we got a great deal for a hotel in Newport. Of course the weekend we reserved the room Newport had record rainfall. The kids spent about 30 seconds on the beach!
Luckily, the hotel had a pool and the kids spent plenty of time swimming. Clare was able to go for her first official swim. Nora wore a life jacket and didn't need our help swimming around at all. Ronan jumped into the pool over and over and over again. He also floated around in a little raft. It was too cute.

Downtown

We took the MAX downtown to see the tree before it was taken down. This was the site of the Bomb Scare involving the FBI earlier in December.

Nora was listening to her echo at Pioneer Square.

The tree in all her glory.

Happy New Year!

We started off our new year with a hike in Mt. Tabor. We had planned to go to the Gorge, but decided we needed to find a closer place as Clare was crying the entire drive.

It was a freezing cold day and we had to keep moving to stay warm. We walked around the water reservoir and Ronan would stop every five feet to ask, "Is that our drinking water?"

Nora was in a great mood and asked if we could keep hiking.

It had been so long (a couple years?) since we had been to Mt. Tabor. It was nice to get out there again, and we had a great view of the city. It was the perfect way to start the new year!

Children's Museum

During the week one of our neighbors, Amy, comes over to help me out with the kids. She usually plays games with them in the basement, helps me snack and just generally keeps everyone happy- especially me!
During Amy's holiday break she, and her sister, came with us to the Children's Museum. They each took one of the kids and ran around for two hours! I know everyone had a great time.

Ronan and Amy did some face painting.

Horrible picture, but Amy and Ronan were in the ambulance.

Nikky and Nora played with the clay for nearly an hour. Nora made a pony bed and the letter "N." We actually just picked them up and painted them today!

Watching Over Baby

Clare usually sits in her pea pod during dinner. On this particular night, Nora and Ronan decided to empty out some drawers from the kitchen. They then delicately placed each item from the drawer onto Clare. Although she doesn't look pleased in these pictures, Clare loved watching them work away on her. I think they was Ronan's idea and he couldn't believe we were letting him get away with it.
